And I opened a drawer in the kitchen. I wish I could make this up.

It was a nice house, but the rest of the property not so much.

Both places needed some fixing up, the second place was better, but predictably more expensive.

Personally I wouldnt rent either, but if I had to choose, Id take the second...

When we went house shopping we looked at a house and there was a 1911 just sitting on a dresser a real 1911.

I have a few like that laying around, my grandfather used to build them and he gave a few to me as collectors pieces. All the ones I have have never been fired, and I dare not too in case something were to happen and I damage one, but my father has a musket that my grandfather built, they used to go hunting with it all the time and he used to shoot it from time to time when I was growing up. pretty cool to load and pack the black powder, insert a blasting cap, and ball, and hope for the best.

I don't think its real or functioning since I don't see a hammer. Unless it is a Wheellock or matchlock pistol.

From all my times watching pawn shop and hardcore pawn and antiques roadshow, the barrel appeared to be 1800s styling, if not from the era. The handle looked like it was recently done, there was part of the hammer missing, so it definitely wasnt original or complete.

Yeah, no hammer on it. It wasnt in what I would call usable condition. Still very odd to find in a kitchen drawer of an unoccupied rental. It seemed almost purposefully left.

Hell, an old, busted up replica flint lock? Ain't nothing. I've seen way more strange items when walking through homes over the past 15+ years of appraising Real Estate. S & M rooms, walk-in gun safes, various "adult toys", Nazi flags/paraphernalia, and, of course, the various hoarder homes. Those are always a treat.

What an interesting thing to find in an "empty" rental.

Psh, CrzRsn went to look at an apartment where the guy had a shotgun chilling in one corner and a handgun with extra mag on the bedside table of the room CrzRsn would have been renting. Between that and the guy's sketchy story about his gf moving out, door alarms only on the gf's old room, refusal to shake my outstretched hand (gave me an unwelcome hug instead) and a leather-bound copy of The Game in the living room, I told CrzRsn that if he moved in there, I would most certainly not be staying the night.

When my buddy was cleaning when moving out of his town house, he found a "adult toy" hidden on top of the furnace. It was a very different one too...

It takes a special person to be a landlord. I would not have the stomach for it.
